    IE8 crashes & then explorer too...

    Hi
    Since last night, IE8 has started to freeze.. I have to open taskmanager & then use "end Task" button..
    Now the problem is If IE8 crashes 2 or 3 times then suddenly Desktop freezes(No active Icon/Right/Left mouse click works)+Computer from Start gives this error;
    Call Stop [with Ok button]

    & Copmuter's Properties give this error;

    I cant browse or open the Drives etc..

    Although a third party Software Free Commander works fine to open or browse the Drives+Open/Save dialogues of all programs(Office, Corels, Adobe,Paint etc) work fine......
    My System specs are;
    Intel C2D e4500
    Asus P5e VMDO
    Corsair 6 gb
    Win 7 x64 RC build 7100

    Hello Zillaamer7F,

    You might see if resetting IE may help.

    Hope this helps,

    I was having the exact same issue with my new Gateway SX 2802-01 (from Costco) right out of the box and after trying all of the fixes found on this forum, with no success, I finally called Costco tech support and he recommended I do an OS recovery, which was my next step anyhow before returning the PC to Costco. He told me that sometimes when OS's are mass produced on hard drives by the manufactors, some of the OS files will get corrupt causing problems as described in this forum.

    Well to make a long story short, I preformed an OS recovery using the Recovery Disc I burned from my Windows 7 OS found on the hard drive and it worked. I haven't had any issues with the Desktop Icons freezing up. I believe this will also take care of the Desktop going black after loading a full screen game.

    I remember reading about this in one of the posts as a fix for the frozen desktop icons and it worked for them too. So this may not be a Mircosoft/Windows 7 issue, but rather the manufactor's problem with the mass production of OS's on hard drives. It made sence to me and it worked.

    Download and scan with malwarebytes antimalware.
    Also, does the problem happen with another browser, say firefox?
