w7 blue screen when using wireless

Sorry to bump this thread again. I was having the same problem while traveling. I have a Dell 1747. I use wireless at home without problems. I was at three different hotels in the last week. At one hotel I consistently got a BSOD whenever my wireless connected. it occurred several minutes after connecting, not right away. Having the adapter on but not logged in to the network was not a problem, no blue screen. I forget the exact error number (I think it was 7F) but it related to netbios.sys.

Anyone heard of a particular wireless connection causing this?

my apologies first that I have not come back to the wonderful suggestions made by the moderators and experienced indiviuals on the issue I raised. Also apologies ahead for the many misspelled and rushed response as I'm typing on my iPhone.

i'd say your issue sounds different from me as the error code
is different but you should really get the crash dump analysis tool and post it here so the experts can look at it.
please look at the historical replies on this thread and see if you can get some pointers. Dot worry about re-creating the crash scenario because the dump files are stored on your Dell already.


As for My Orignal issue, it is resolved. The culprit -- my router and bitorrent app "utorrent"


I don't have the technical explanation but here's what i observed/ tested:
- my router is linksys wrt310n ver 1.0
- I had bsod when computer was idle, but the bsod was almost within minutes if I used utorrent
- what seems to have fixed the issue:
1) turned my router to 802.11g only mode (the router was a pre-n)
2) turn off qos and frameburst (after reading this router has dropped
signal issue with these on)
3) disable upnp and nat something auto port routing on utorrent.

at least that's after over 30 hours of no bsod
I know it doesn't explain why i used to get bsod without any active net traffic on wifi, but it seems to work.
