How to install Teredo IPv6 thingy?

Hiya,

While troubleshooting, i uninstalled Teredo (it was already disabled). The workaround was demonstrated, but now i don't know how to put it back.

I've hunted around and i've found instructions for Vista (and i couldn't comprehend them), but not w7.

How do i re-install Teredo?

On the properties page for your network connection, select Install->Protocal and select it from the list... you may need your Win7 DVD to do this.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, it's not listed: only "Reliable Multicast Protocol" is listed.

Will system restore take you there without blowing anything else up?

HRRRRMMMM... just went there myself... now that's nasty.

I'm not sure about using system restore - in fact i've never used it. I've done quite a few things (including installing programs since i did my troubleshooting).

There must be a way to simply re-install it

In order to get IPv6 working again which controls the Toredo interface try this procedure.

1. Temporarily disable Firewall and third party antivirus program on the computer for a test.

2. Verify relevant services
=========================
a. Click "Start", type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in Search Bar and press Enter.

Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

b. Right click the "Peer Networking Grouping" service and choose Properties.
c. Please check if the service is started; if not, please click the Start button and see if it works.
d. You may also choose Automatic next to Startup type.
e. Click OK.
f. Please repeat the above steps with another service: PNRP Machine Name Publication Service.

3. Modify IPv6 registry key to enable IPV6
==========================
a. Click Start, type regedit in Search Bar, and then click regedit in the Programs list.

Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.

b. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\TCPIP6\Parameters

c. Check whether the "DisabledComponents" registry key exists. If so, let's move on the next steps.
d. Double click the "DisabledComponents" registry key and modify the value to 0.

(If the key doesn't exist, please create the key above and assign the value 0)

e. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

Well... the best thing is honesty... I've done this under XP but never in Win7. I suggested it on the "this otta work" premise that so often disappoints. Beyond that I've never actually done this particular thing and, thus, don't want to dive into guesswork and bad advice... Better by far to simply admit I'm stumped too....

Hopefully someone else has actually done this procedure and can walk you through it...

He didn't disable it... If he had he could simply re-check the box and reboot. He uninstalled it which removes the files from his system...

And to get any Win 7 files back he only needs to type sfc/scannow into a command prompt. Since you seem to be coming up emtpy here I thought that enabling IPv6 settings in the registry might help. Is that ok with you or do I need approvel from you before posting here anymore?

The first one was started, but set to manual - i changed to Automatic.
The second on was NOT started. So i started it, and also changed from Manual to Automatic.

I presumed decimal value - set to zero (It was 255).
