Internet goes off randomly every week or so

    Hello

Ever since I installed Wins7 I have this problem every week or 2 weeks. Never happened with Vista.

My internet just decides to go off. It can work for up to 2 weeks fine, but then just get narky and moody for a couple of days.

I believe it has something to do with the network, as often when I log on I am on to public network, or duplicate networks. There seems to be a problem finding the right network(i.e. my internet network). My wireless laptop works fine ALL the time. This PC is connected by a brand new Ethernet cable to the modem. I have the latest modem driver installed.

I get the error message "the dns server is not available" , or "the network gateway is not available" when I try the repair. Again, I have all the latest drivers installed and have a new cable.

Finding the right network seem to be a problem .

Anybody have any ideas on what I can do? Get a new modem(my one is compatible apparently) or maybe a new adapter? (have a sneaky feeling this might solve it, but they are expensive)

    Many thanks

Well Im not sure if Im running Homegroup to be honest(homegroup is on and off). I prefer not to have any home network and just use each CPU independently(if that makes sense).

Networks seems to be messing up my internet badly at the moment.

I don't need a network, only the internet.

Windows7 seems to be obsessed with networks.
