Hi everyone,
i am currently having a problem with my network i have setup at the moment, the problem is, with my xbox or my router.
see, whenever i go into windows media player, play a song then click the play to icon, then the xbox 360 media center extender, the play to window will show up and say that it is connecting, i do this with my xbox turned on and ion media center mode. after a few seconds it says that it is not responding, and yes my xbox is setup with the computer i am doing it with.
any help would be appreciated :)

Where do you get the not responding dialog? On the xbox?

If so, you probably need to forward some ports.

Here's the list:

UDP 1900 Inbound

TCP 3390 Inbound

TCP/UDP 2177 In & Out

TCP 10244 In & Out

TCP 554 In & Out

UDP 5004 - 5005 In & Out

TCP 8554 - 8558 In & Out

UDP 50004 - 50013 In & Out

UDP 7777 - 7781 In & Out

Give permissions (internal firewall) to:

Windows 7 Home Premium

Here's something to try, that worked for me.

I was trying to get my Win 7 laptop to play to my Win 7 x64 HTPC, and banging my head against the wall with this very error. On a whim and desperation, I examined the advanced rule view of the firewall carefully, and found this rule on the inbound side:

Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service (HTTP-Streaming-In)
for the profile 'Domain, Private', and it was disabled. I enabled it, and suddenly the Play-To feature works like a charm. You can get to the advanced firewall view by opening the Start Menu, typing 'Firewall' in the search box, and selecting 'Windows Firewall with Advanced Security'.
