Need help with network printer between Win Vista and Win 7

The printer is connected to the desktop Windows 7 and works. I have the printer software installed on my laptop, Windows Vista, and it doesn't work.
Can someone please help me? I have tried some solutions online but nothing works.

When I open Network in Windows Explorer on Windows Vista laptop, it shows the printer on the pc and the printer on my lap.

When I try to print from my laptop it won't print, it just goes to pending.

You need to share the printer on the Windows 7 machine and go to the Windows vista machine and Add new printer by going through the wizard and install the printer from the network

find the shared printer from the win 7 computer

the reason why its pending is because the software is pointing in the wrong place, it is probably pointing to a local port instead of the networked printer

    Thanks for the quick response.
The printer is set to 'share'. I added a new printer and chose Network port, and I found the printer on the win 7 pc. I looked at the port on that printer in win 7 and it is under Local Port.
They both point to the same \\computername\printername

Now I can't get either pc or laptop to print. They both go through the motions, I get no error message, but the document just sits under pending.

    I am totally baffled.

Okay... Cancel All Documents... Delete All printers. On Windows Vista and 7

Then Reinstall the printer on 7. Share that printer. Print a piece of paper to make sure it works first... like test page.

    then follow the tutorial below

That's exactly what I was going to say, but this tutorial explains it better than I could :)

Ok. I uninstalled all the printers, and tried to re-install in my desktop pc with Win 7, it installed everything but the printer itself, so I downloaded the driver for Win 7 from the Dell site, for Dell Photo AIO Printer 926 and it still won't print the test page.
It says ' Test page failed to print '. It troubleshoots looking for the problem but can't find any.
