how can i prevent people from installing software...?

Hello fellas, quick question. How can I password protect any type of software installation on win7? Is there a way to do this without having to create another user account without admin privileges? I just want to have my account, but i share my laptop so i just want to make it so that if anyone tried to install something, they would need a password.
Is this possible? Kinda like on a Mac, where you have to type your password for every installation....

    thnx

First, make sure the account you are trying to protect is a standard user, not administrator.

Then turn UAC on: User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

Then, in order to install programs, they will need to enter an administrator password.

Administrator Tools > Security Management > Local Policies > Security Options > "User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode" (near the bottom) > select "Prompt for credentials on the secure desktop"

It's best to create a guest account for the user in question and have them use that account which will prevent them from installing anything or messing up your private account. Just give them a password for the guest account and you would need to keep your password secret to your own account.
