Cannot connect/create home network

Hi fellas ,

Well my problem is this:
I have 3 PC's 2 of them running on XP PRO SP3 and one on Win7 Ultimate.
They all have different (LAN) names - RPZ-1,2,3 and they are all in the same workgroup called MSHOME.
Still the Win7 PC cannot share files with the XP PC's (sharing is enabled on all computers) and the only way for the Win7 PC to connect to one of XP's is by manually creating a SHARED DRIVE.
  1. Why ?
  2. How do I connect and share Win7 partitions/folders/files with other MS OS's in a workgroup ?
  3. What is a Homegroup ?

To create a workgroup, see this article: Networking home computers running different versions of Windows

Homegroup is a program only compatible with Windows 7, that makes sharing very easy. I will admit I have never used it, because I have only one computer with Windows 7 on it.

Go through this tutorial about sharing with XP, click on the XP tab, it should help.

After going through all of that if you are still having file access problems try doing this registry adjustment on the Win 7 machine.

Solution is really easy just modify one key in registry:
create or modify 32-bit DWORD: LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy
set the value to: 1

Windows 7 Better then yours

The best of all as i did, is insert the driver cd for your computer and update the drivers for your network.
