    Windows 7 x64 FTP Server

    Hello Everyone,

Has anyone been able to successfully setup the FTP Server in Windows 7 x64 located in Control Panel/Programs and Features/Turn Windows Features On or Off? I would like to FTP to a certain folder via the internet using either IE or My Computer but I am unsuccessful. I have turned on and setup the FTP Server feature, created a static DNS account, port forwarded my router, opened up the firewall, etc... but still no luck. I haven't been able to find much documentation on this so I was wondering if others were experiencing my frustration and going a different route? As much as I would like to go a different route (FileZilla perhaps) this problem is really bugging me and I would like to understand the cause.

Thank you for your help in advance!

Yes, I totally agree but not being able to use the Windows FTP Server is aggravating me. It should be something simple and it has turned in to a big project. I am able to get the login Username and Password window to pop up when I FTP but I cannot login.

I once went down the road with a problem trying to autoconnect my VPN. The real problem I came up against was the support from Microsoft. It was non existent. I fear you are embarking down the same avenue at the moment because the support for this is miniscule and you may never find an answer to your dilemma. If someone comes along and helps you to achieve your goal then 'Excellent'. But, I fear your just going to find the same answer I did 'Microsoft don't care if it don't work.'

    Best wishes always

Amen to that!! I have come to the realization that the big monster called M$ could care less about it's customers needs or wants. I'm just waiting for the day that Linux sneaks up on that giant and takes it out at the knees, then my prayers will have been answered.

Yeah, on Windows I recommend Filezilla server. For something far more robust, I would go with Linux and run something like vsftpd.
