I have this issue where Windows 7 Home Premium cannot view any of the Windows XP shared folders.

- Windows XP is able to view Windows 7 client
- Windows 7 cannot view Windows XP in network map
- I have already tired and installed the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) hotfix.
- Windows XP is not using simple file sharing.
- I am able to RDP into Windows XP client on Windows 7
- I am able to ping Windows XP on the Windows 7

Please I need your assistance for this issue.

Go through this tutorial about sharing with XP, click on the XP tab, it should help.
Sharing files and printers with different versions of Windows - Help & How-to - Microsoft Windows

This one is more general but has good info.
Networking home computers running different versions of Windows

To see another XP machine in the network map you need to install the SP3 on the XP machine and also install the hotfix related to the issue. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389

After going through all of that if you are still having file access problems try doing this registry adjustment on the Win 7 machine with the problem.

Solution is really easy just modify one key in registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
create or modify 32-bit DWORD: LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy
set the value to: 1

This post from TechNet might also help.

Thank you for your help, but I finally figured out what was causing the issue.

It looked like Zone Alarm installed on my Windows 7 Home Premium was blocking the connections and preventing the other clients from being displayed.

I have uninstalled Zone Alarm and switched over the Comodo Firewall.

Comodo Firewall works much better than Zone Alarm.

Thanks for reporting back in rzetlin,

So it's yet another A/V software causing your problems. I can't say that I'm surprized in the least bit. You might want to mention that you were using Zone Alarm next time because that would have been my first choice for causing this type of problem. In fact this exact same problem has already been solved thousands of times by simply uninstalling the offending software. Zone Alarm is probably the absolute worst offender of them all.
