Cannot See Other PC On Network

I have a laptop (wireless connection) and desktop (wired connection) both connected to a linksys router. Now for some reason they cannot see each other on the network and obviously the share drives do not work. Network discovery is on and I'm not setup on a homegroup because it is worthless. Also, I have tried disabling the firewall on each PC to see if that was causing it but still no luck. Has anyone experienced this issue before and is there a countermeasure?

Homegroup is one of my favorite features of Win 7. Did you try it and not like it?
    Are both machines Win 7?

I agree Zepher, Homegroups works absolutely flawlessly for me as well. I've been using it for well over a year now. I can't figure out why so many people have any problems with it but I suspect it's probably an A/V software or third party firewall causing problems just like this. In fact I'm absolutely sure this is the problem here as well. It's too bad I have to waste so much time convincing people I'm correct.

This tutorial addresses most other problems associated with using Homegroups.

Are both PCs in the same WORKGROUP?

I hate asking "debug step" questions; however, you didn't say they were, so we can't assume.

Thank you for your help but I figured out the problem. It was actually the UPnP on my router. I am using DD-WRT so I cleared the UPnP cache and rebooted, now all the PC's are connected.
