how do I shutdown all the internal network security?

I have a mixed win7/linux home network, I have a firewall box between modem and router. win7 seems to change security settings at the drop of a hat, one minute I can access all 6 boxes (3 win7 3 linux) next minute win7 can only access linux, half an hour later nothing. nothing can talk to anything homegroup is useless, I can't even get folders to share unless they are in public folder even when I set them up to share with "everyone" I want to be able to set C:\ as a share. I just want to turn off all the passwords and lock out crap. I want to set windows 7 up the way I want to set it up, I want to put my music and movies in the folder I want. not what MS says I have to use.

    help?

Are you by chance using homegroup? One some mixed networks homegroups IPv6 has connectivity problems, and sharing problems.
You can verify if that isw the problem by making a new network connection using workgroup instead. If the problem goes away you can disable IPv6 and kill homegroup

Let us know if you need help

I'm pretty sure homegroup is off.

    yup, is off

ah, will not accept "Turn On Network Discovery". I click it to yes, save changes, click ok and go back a level, go back in and it's back to "Turn Off Network Discovery"
