    D-Link Dir-655 Constant Connection Drops

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but for the past few weeks, I've been experiencing constant connection drops(I've concluded it that it's the router because both the modem (sb6120) and the router shows the amount of time it's been up) and everytime the connection drops, the router would show that it had just rebooted. Should I reset all my router configurations or is it something else that is the problem? Thanks in advance.

Could use some info on your network setup. Also are you using homegroup, or workgroup?

Nope, I am not using homegroup or workgroup; my network setup is an Motorola SB6120 connected to the D-Link DIR-655 which outputs to my computer, my brother's computer, an HP printer, and a voip modem.

I have the same router as you do and it works really well for me.

Most likely the channel your router is using to broadcast is being used by other routers in your area which tends to cause connection drop problems.

Try going into the routers control panel by typing 192.168.0.1 then enter into the URL of your browser. You may need to type in your password or use Admin for the password.

After that go to the wireless tab, then choose the manual wireless set up tab. After that go to the "enable auto scan" uncheck that, then choose a different channel and then hit the "save settings" button. Keep doing that until you find a channel that doesn't drop the connection.

If the 2.4Ghz frequency is overloaded in your area it might take awhile to find an empty channel. The D-link DIR-825 uses the 5Ghz frequency and the 2.4Ghz frequency also so it has more options for finding a clear connection.

Good idea, I'll try that right now since the connection dropped again. Can it possibly be heat problems though? since it has been pretty hot these days here.

I've never had a heat problem and it gets pretty hot here. Hopefully it's just a channel problem which has come up many times before.

You might also want to read what is on the links below because there may be a compatiblity problem.
