So far I've seen about 40 different systems fixed with a router firmware update but usually it won't connect at all. You never mentioned what model router you were using.
I believe Coug is using a Linksys but the model is unknown.

    Yes. It's a linksys WRT54GS.
I backed up my previous config and installed the 7.5 firmware last night and the speed was rectified instantly.
Will try again when I get home shortly.

After solving this problem I've realised that other drivers are likely to need updating.

Can anyone recommend a good driver scan program? Preferably a free one!

Coug, if everything is working at optimum then let Windows 7 updates handle it.

Everything does seem fine, apart from my volume and internet bars on the taskbar (bottom right) disappearing.

I've reinstated them a few times and they come back fine, until I reboot and they're gone again.

I figured driver issues may the cause here as well, so I ran a check with driveragent and found quite a few need updating.

I won't bother with a program if you don't recommend it, but if you have any other ideas for the above problem let me know. (After I've checked if the driver update has worked)
