DNS Not Working For Wireless Interface, But OK For Wire
I have noticed an issue these past few days that really confuses me.
I have both a wired and wireless interface on my desktop. The wired works fine. The wireless, on the other hand, does not work with DNS. I can ping remote addresses by IP, but not by domain name.
I've tried the basics - ipconfig /release, ipconfig / renew. I checked the DNS settings on the wireless router and they are correct (not to mention our laptops, using the same gateway - everything with DHCP) work on the wireless network.
I'm not sure what broke it. I first noticed this issue when I uninstalled 'DNE Update' from my machine. I believe I had to install it when I was trying to get Cisco VPN working. I never got Cisco VPN client working properly, and switched to Shrewsoft VPN client which has worked fine. I uninstalled "DNE Update" and then started noticing that DNS wasn't working. I uninstalled Shrewsoft VPN and everything was back to normal. I reinstalled Shrewsoft (but not DNE Update) and everything was working fine, for a couple of days. Then, it wasn't working again.
At this point I realized it was just the wireless that wasn't working, but wired did (wired is always connected, but it seems like if I connect to wireless network then it chooses to use wireless instead of wired).
I just tried reinstalling DNE Update, but no change.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Where should I begin to look?
