    Internet disconnects for no reason

My Internet connection can go for days with no problem and then for half a day will disconnect every few minutes. The strange thing is that all I have to do to get it back is to disconnect the cable from my computer and reconnect it and in seconds I have Internet again. My internet provider cannot find a problem with the connection and all assume it has something to do with the modem or router but I cannot find any problem with them.

We have a router with 2 computers connected to it and we have a static IP.

I have no 3rd party firewalls and like I said, most of the week this doesn't happen.

I have read all kinds of solutions and have tried them all (installing router\modem\windows updates, etc...)

Instead of trying to figure out what the cause is, since my solution is taking out the cable and putting it back, thus forcing a reconnection, I wanted to ask if you know of any software that would monitor my internet connection and when it sees that it got disconnected, it would force a restart of the connection (like what I do manually by taking the cable in and out.)

    Thanks.

Well, instead of manually taking the cable in and out, go into command promt (Start -> "cmd") and type "ipconfig /renew".

Have you tried scanning for viruses? In one case I had, an infected computer was attempting to attack other computers on the network, disconnecting them from the internet. Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or SUPER Antispyware.

Yes, I scan my computer weekly. My AV is NOD32 and my weekly scan is with CCleaner and SUPERAntiSpyware Professional. I also do a weekly run of Hijackthis. I will try flushing my connection and if it works, I will make a .bat file to do this but I need someway that the computer could do it for me as soon as the connection gets lost.

Most likely this is a router problem, have you tried updating the firmware? What model of router are you using?

Yes, out of curiosity, what router do you have?

Have you tried right clicking on the monitor icon in task tray and troubleshooting the connection?

Right clicking and troubleshooting did nothing. (come on... you think Microsoft would reveal their bugs?? ;-)
My router is Edimax BR-6104k. I will go into the setup page now and do a firmware upgrade. Hope it helps.

    UPDATE:
Ok, upgraded from 3.25 to 3.29.
Will wait a few days and cross fingers.

I doubt it's an OP system problem although updating the firmware has fixed problems like this on many occasions. If not I would suspect that one of your A/V's might be causing this problem. Hoping for the best.

Nearly 24 hours later still wondering if the firmware update helped or not.

You swap out the network card or add one and disable the on-board one if it's the first network card added?
My typical life for a network card is less than 2 years.
