Pop Quiz: One NIC, One Router, 4 ports on each...

A particular network card has 4 ethernet ports.
It also has a uplink/downlink physical switch on the back.

    So pop quiz...
What are the benefits, if any, of plugging each port into each port on the back of a single modem/router.

The modem/router also has 4 ethernet ports, an adsl, and wireless lan.

Let's assume the cables are cross-overs.
Let's also assume the switch is in the downlink position.
Let's further assume we all know the quote regarding assumptions.

For wlan, none. For Lan, faster transfers.
