No Internet Connection After Boot UP or Wake Up

This link is not how my problem occurred but it seems to be the same problem I have now. From uninstalling and reinstalling my wireless adapter I seem to have gotten rid of the virtual mini adapter mentioned in the above link. This could very well have been my problem from the beginning. The difference being that my wireless connection does not work at all.

To your question about the router I have a Linksys WRT54G V8. However the homegroup issue existed on other, more recent routers.

Wireless adapter shows up in Network Connections but not the Vir. Mini. Adapter shows in device manager and everything says is working fine. Driver is most up-to-date version, checked that on the Intel website. Downloaded and installed the driver from Intel website and still nothing.

I ran ipconfig and the wireless adapter does not show. My wired connection is running but not with ipv6.

Far as I know the lack of connection at wake up can be fixed by going into power options and adjusting the settings for the adaptor to not turn off during sleep.

You might want to try updating the firmware on that router because the WRT45G can be a bit problematic with Windows 7 unless it's updated with the latest firmware. It should have no problems suppporting IPv6 which is an automatic install with Windows 7.

You should be able to update the firmware from the routers set up page firmware tab. Be sure and use the version 8 firmware.

If you have already installed an A/V software or any type of third party firewall you should uinstall them completely until after you get your network up and running.

Well I did not get this problem after wake up. I was trying to troubleshoot my homegroup/ipv6 connectivity problems by reinstalling my adpater driver. After I did that my internet connection went kaput. But when I run diag I get the same error message as the user in that link. The tcp/ip stack cannot be automatically....etc etc

The driver has nothing to do with the IPv6 protocol, it only works on the LAN and is only used for Homegroup networking for the time being. Windows 7 and the router take care of the IPv6 function and it's usually not a problem. Most likely you have an A/V software installed that is creating all these problems for you.

Avast uninstalled. Nothing changed. The problem has to be within the drivers of my wifi adapter. The drivers windows update installed used to work fine and now they don't. I am missing the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter which I am told is very important for wireless connectivity. I followed the instructions of this post Missing Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter to no avail.

Everything works now so far. Hard drive wipe and system reinstall. Finally this time everything is in working order. I must have installed my AV BEFORE installing any drivers. Thread closed

Once things get that messed up reinstalling is sometimes the best option. The A/V is always the last thing you want to install but even then they can cause problems. Your welcome for the help.

Thanks to everyone for the help. Turns out to have been ZA. I used the free version so I could not open the hole for ipv6, deciding to go with Windows Firewall until I can find a good free one that allows it. Any suggestions?

Zone alarm is famous for such problems, at least to me it's famous because I've seen it cause problems so many times. There should be a way to configure it to work properly. Windows firewall plus the routers firewall are really all you need.
