    Simple.

Exchange it at the store where you bought it with a new one.

I bought one of these myself and I had a variety of problems from multiple pcs not accessing the internet to no ip addressing. I am experiencied in networks and have owned dlink products with no problem. So, I did an even exchange at the store i got it and the new one works fine.

Out of curiosity, what type of modem do you have? Consider updating the firmware from dlink.

You will most likely need to update the firmware in order to fix this problem. This router should be fully compatible with Windows 7.

You will need to determine the revision number of your router to properly update the firmware. Click on Support Resources to right in the link below to help find the revision number.

After you determine the correct revision number click on the correct model revision number and then click on "firmware" also upper right. Choose the most recent firmware at the top of the page. There are recent firmware updates for most revisions that can fix problems exactly as you are describing.

You will need to download the firmware then use the routers firmware update page to install it, this can be accessed by typing 192.168.0.1 into your browsers URL. You will then need to navigate to the firmware update page and follow the firmware update procedure. You can only update the firmware through a wired internet connection.

Firmware3.12NA3/08/2010Revision Info:¤ Fixed: “User” access issue.
    ¤ Fixed: Wireless connection issue.
    ¤ Fixed: DHCP reservation issue.
    ¤ Fixed: Static IP issue.

Also try using a different channel other than the default channel 6 which should get you a better signal.
