My problem seems to be less that i lose internet connection, and more that for no reason, at high usage or high upload, w7 ****s up the ethernet ports. my internet connection works fine, as other computers on the router are still connected. But the little computer icon representing my ethernet connection gets the yellow "yield' sign on it. Only solutoin so far that has worked has been disabling and reenabling the ethernet adaptor. its an nvidia chipset, built into an evga 680i sli motherboard (nf680 i think is the designation). Anyhow. WHen i checked to see if i should disable some of thei things this thread says to disable, power saving options etc.. i had already had them disabled, i guess by default? odd. But i enabled, then disabled them again, just to be firm with my windows 7 installation so it knows who's boss.

This only started happening when i installed the RC, build 7077 did not give me these heartaches and headaches..

I should i guess mention the most frequent times this occurs. It occurs when i'm using vuze frequently, but also, when i'm using firefox and downloading anything (software wahtever) and the download speed exceeds 300 kB/s (my connection goes up to 900kB/s), it does it frequently when i play Civ2 in the XP vm, or JUST in windows 7 (using the x64 patch for civ2). Now, in many of these instances, my CPU usage spikes to 100%. And it seems to happen after 100% cpu spikes with high volume ethernet traffic. But as yet. this isn't 100% the case. its the most frequent set of circumstances.

My system specs are posted, so you can check my setup. I'm using SB Live Music as my audio, and i have no idea what chipset is on board my motherboard for audio, because i've never used it. maybe realtek?

Oh, and lastly, after disabling Bonjour service, i gaine dmore stability, and after uninstalling the nVidia forceware ethernet connection management tool, or whatever the hell it was called (basically, returning to just the bare driver), i gained more stability. Now the disconnects are ONLY during times of high traffic load or CPU spikes. (or both). Before, they were constant.

I have all the reccomended power saving features turned off. That has had no effect.

Seemsthat every time I upgrade or REPAIR, i have loss of access on different sites.
I always fix by using the following:
    1. Start -> cmd ( run as admin) - netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
    wait for OK
    2. I then reset the tcp-ip half open to 40 from default 10.
    3. back to desktop -> blank space - right click to REFRESH.
Fixed, and good to go. for me.

how do you reset the tcp-ip half open to 40?

and after you do the netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal, will it default to that on each startup? or do you have to do this each time you boot up.

Can anyone confirm this is still happeningg in Windows 7 Build 7260 RTM??

I'm having the same issue here with Windows 7 RC 7100 64 Bit - nVidia Controller

I've tried pretty much everything listed here..

I have to say, I'm a Microsoft supporter and use Microsoft products in my career.. But come on.. How do you let this one go QA?? Seriously, and people wonder why people are so pissed off with Microsoft.. I just wasted 2 hours because a network card wouldn't stay connected?? REALLY? It's only a matter of time before people have had enough.. I'm smelling Vista all over again.

I'm sorry if this was already brought up, but it seems to definitely be one of the updates I just removed.. So I'm not sure which one it was cause I removed 5 of them but the only two I have left are

    KB970419
    KB970416

After the reboot it's been running now for about 10 min which is about 9:45 longer than it was running before I removed those updates.

I'm going to out on a limb again and say it's fixed.. I forced an update for the nVidia drivers for Vista 64 bit and it seems to be working again.. I downloaded XP SP 3 anticipating having to re-install and it didn't drop once. so that's pretty impressive.. Will keep updates coming on progress.

so you solved it by using drivers for vista, rather than the beta drivers for win7?

i will try that tonight, at my house, where i sleep!
