    Windows 7 Pro x64 Internet

I'm most likely upgrading from XP 32bit to Win7 64bit next week.
The only thing bothering me is getting the Internet working/working properly.

I use a wireless usb dongle (Belkin F5D8053 version 3) which has Win7 64bit drivers
but it doesn't have the software utility to connect to the router.

The above is fine, but I've been reading about the Internet that only having the drivers and using Windows to connect to the router causes lag spikes every couple of minutes, due to Windows searching for access points and/or disconnects from the Internet.
This is what's bothering me as I play online games a fair bit.

Is there any way to stop Windows searching for other access points, which would stop these lag spikes/disconnects?
I'm stopping it in XP (wireless zero configuration) by using the software utility, but like I've said above, there currently isn't one for Win7.

    Thanks :)

In reality those so called software connection utilities cause more problems than they solve and are not required for Windows 7.

I've never heard of these connection spikes and have no such problems with my wireless connection. Searching for other access points will not cause these problems. Most router problems can easily be fixed with a firmware update.
