As for other networks, I occassionally pick up two others with a really low signal.

Anyway, it is always good to upgrade the router because of new tech inside, so shouldn't have any regrets for that.

I did have sometimes some drops like it goes 54Mbits to 16Mbits for an all day...

I thought was the router and internet provider, so rebooted the router but still the same.
I had to put my hands in the registry looking for Teredo, this was really complicated task to do, so i do not details you anything about it, because it was lot of paste & copy in many registry keys related to Tcpip & Tcpip6 "Linkage". I had to remade the linkage myself!!!

BUT (i suppose it wasn't mess as it was with me):

As Teredo can be enable easily via in the Services, i can at least guide you to:

Control Panel=>Administration Tools=>Services.

Find the service "IP Management" (hope i'm the right name), the service is call in C:\Windows\System32\iphlpsvc.dll and is related to IPv6. Right click on it to set "automatic" and start it.
As you might noticed i'm telling you to renable the IPv6 protocol. This had to be done aswell here:

Control Panel=>Network Center=>"Modify networks Card Parameters"

choose the network you wish to connect with then right click to property and reenable the IPv6 protocol. This had successfully gave me a Teredo address and my private network felt very fine about it.

2) Some basics tuning had to be made to stable the connection...

Well, now I've reverted back to XP I'm not sure if this is relevant as I don't have IP Management (and IPv6 isn't on XP IIRC).

I ran the test and the features that XP supports all passed but some of them need Vista to run.

Humm, there's a erzast of IPv6 on XP but not really prepared like in 7.
So, router runs fine on Xp....if it happens you reinstall windows 7 with the new router switched on, might works.

The computer I use mostly has had both 7 and XP installed but the connection still drops with either.

You was on dual boot with XP and 7....doesn't change really anything.
So, parameters are still needed even with XP if i have well understood.
