how are you trying to do this? there are 3 ways (that i'm aware of), i'll stick to the 2 easiest, most familiar. First is in the advanced settings in the network and sharing center. Second way is to go to explorer(or thru start menu), on side navi of explorer go to network, you should then get a prompt at the top of the explorer window, like an active X prompt, click that and it should enable discovery.
i find where to turn on but everytime i select on after i click save changes it is still checked off
yes it is a homegroup, with a router between pc and laptop
ok, leave HG on all pcs, reboot each pc, and turn off router while pcs reboot, the fire up the router, then see if that changes things.
also, what model router btw
i leave the homegroup , still the same , i can"t turn on the netowrk discovery, i can see my pc from my laptop , but the laptop from my pc no.
i have a wirless router konig cmp100
the laptop is wirless , the pc is wired both tru the same router
key here is shutting down the router, cold. Also of course leaving HG on all pcs and doing a hard boot to reitterate, and if hard boot doesnt work, uninstall/reinstall adapter drivers.
Also... i assume all pcs are on RC 7100, correct?
tho this still may not fix, i just want it clear about the need for cold/hard boots of the pcs and routers. and the fact that you have all pcs on 7100.
laptop have win7rc , xp on the pc
are you on a domain or workgroup?
gateway and dns configured in tcp/ip 4?
do you also have "use user account and passwords to connect to other computers"?
How about when going to the "network" folder, do you get the prompt at the top of the explorer asking/telling you to enable network discover "click here"?
