    Sharing An External HDD

    Hi

I have an Western Digital 500gb external hdd. I want to know if I connect this to my main desktop pc through the USB ports and then share this drive across the network so that other computers can access it? Can this be done?

Both systems are using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Please can someone let me know

    Thanks

    of course can..
just right click on the harddisk external then set the sharing and make sure the security allow you to access on the other PC on the network.

Yes, you can, you will have to set permissions to allow other users to add to and edit the files on the drive if that is your desire. The PC sharing the drive would have to be on for the drive to be seen, another alternative way is if your router has a USB port that will take a drive, hub or printer, this would allow you to share it across the network with only having the router on with the printer, all users would need to install the printer drivers and any software needed.
