    Bluetooth connects but no internet

I'm not sure what's going on. I try to troubleshoot my network connection and it comes up with "unexpected error" and error code 0x80131700.Even if I tried to restore I get a failure, so something is deffinatly wrong. I search and tried everything I could with no resolve. Wifi is working but when I connect bluetooth, it blocks the connection for both sources. I disconnect the bluetooth and wifi works again. Funny thing I noticed is when I connect to the internet with wifi alone, the little monitor icon on the tray on the bottom never says connected, I feel all these things are related to the same problem, it's just a matter of finding out exactly where my issues are being generated from.

I can't really help with your problem but I can give a few tips.

The network icon in the taskbar is no longer animated, we all miss that, at least you knew it was working when that flashed, it's something you'd have to take up with Microsoft :)

What are you using for Bluetooth, is it a dongle that you connect via USB ? Do you use a modem or a router for your Internet connection, if so can you tell us the make and model, that way we may be able to help by making sure you have the correct drivers installed.

Please post back with as much information about your connection and I'm sure one of the experts will be able to help you, and welcome to the forum.:)

what I do is teather the bluetooth to a cellphone. computer is an hp dv6 laptop and the cell is a palm centro run via "usbmodem" software. But I am not sure this is where the problem is intiating from, seems like this is just the symptom and I just happened to notice the problem here since I use this utility often. I forgot to mention I can not restore either. So I am thinking I have several sources within windows that are not working properly. It's a matter of identifying it all and relating the problems to isolate the problem. Also I have a single screen icon down there (as apposed to the old duel screen icon) but there is now a red x through the connection even if I am connected through wifi

Sorry I'm late answering this Nick, thanks for the link I've downloaded it and it works very well. The only problem is that at the moment I've got my taskbar hiding so I don't see it, unless I move the mouse down to the bottom of the screen and make the taskbar appear
