can i still just connect with JUST a ethernet cable? or do i have to use a router now days
Matt, there are many threads on this site that have been posted trying to share the internet through another computer. I don’t know if any of those threads ever got it to work correctly. It may work for a time, but rebooting stops it, or it works for a month then stops for no reason, etc. Ultimately the best solution is to have a wireless card for each machine connecting to the internet or to have each machine have a hard wire (ethernet wire) connection to the router/switch to access the internet. This will give you the best performance and will cause you the least amount of headaches.
ok so if i simply connect my buffalo router to the computer with the dongle attached and then connect the other computer to the router via ethernet cable it should work?
thanks heaps for your help
I would just connect both computers to the router via Ethernet cables. That will be your best bet.
ok, just want to make sure you understand what kind of internet i have, it's a wireless dongle that plugs in via usb.
ok i'll give it a go and post once i have
thanks again.
why can't windows just make it easy!!?
