    Do I need PNRPsvc?

    Hi all,

Tried searching but couldn't find the answer.

In my event system log it shows that I am getting PNRPsvc error 102.

I don't think I really do any networking, I do have a router to connect my home computers to the the internet, but not to each other.

I just normally surf the internet and play online games.

As the title says do I need this and if not how do I turn it off?

I noticed it because I am getting BSOD with the DXGMMS1.SYS error, I don't think it has anything to do with this as that I have searched and may have found the answers to clear this error.

    thanks ahead of time,

BSOD with video driver as the cause have nothing to do with this protocall. this may be used for playing games read here. Event ID 102 — PNRP Protocol

    thanks zigzag3143,

I believe that PRNPsvc has nothing to do with the BSOD and DXGMMS1.SYS error. I believed what caused it was I added 1 Gb of RAM in slots two and four without lowering my RAM speed. I took them out and so far so good, fingers crossed.

But I'm still getting the error code 102. I did go the microsoft knowledgebase earlier and tried to execute what it said, but I'm not able to get the service working. The only problem I've been noticing is that upon boot-up my LAN connection takes a long time to establish, and nothing seems to work, until the LAN connection does work. I'm assuming it's searching for a PEER of some kind. If I do a hard reboot it seems to clear but I do get a bunch of PEER type of errors, code 102 comes first.
Also, at times, my connection to websites are slow for a while, maybe after a couple of minutes, it's back to normal.

I'm still searching for a solution, and doing trial and error.
