This is available now for it professionals where this can be a major time saver when installing hundreds or even thousands of copies, (though the majority will use imaging technology today), so would be nice for the enthusiast user.

Of course from Microsoft's point of view they want to supply everyone with the same set of features to standardize the image of windows, as a brand, so it may be something that we never see.
I think you hit the nail on the head right there. Also I don't believe they see this as an issue and to be fair it really is not. A minor annoyance at best. I'd be surprised if Microsoft acted on it. Maybe they will surprise us.

Agreed. That was a major let down on the whole operating system.

I just hope they don't require a bunch of hardware upgrades to make this OS work. Keep it light and fast. I think this could kill sales if people have to either buy a new PC or upgrade to run the new Windows every 3 years.

I think they learned their lesson with Vista.

After all..if we are totally honest, 99% of us don't use probably 80% of the items in Control Panel. Yes, the should be a default option to load all as at present because many people just want the easy way to install/upgrade their systems, but for the more savvy out here, choice would be a fine thing!!
that would be nice, it will really save us time Vliting then testing over and over again until we get a stable system.

I agree that since Vista/7 required a PC upgrade, Win 8 should not. The biggest thing I want to see in Windows 8 (actually I want to see it in a Windows 7 SP) is native Blu-ray movie support. Other than that, I would prefer it if the OS was largely based on Windows 7, though different enough to call it a new OS; I don't want MS to pull a Snow Leopard on us.

I typically use two monitors without 3rd party apps. What is it you want to do that requires additional software?
