Sweet, I love my Fios... :)

Details...Computerworld - Verizon today said a fiber-optic field trial it conducted in June for a business customer in Taunton, Mass., delivered near-Gigabit-per-second speeds.
The customer received 925 Mbit/sec. throughput to a server at its business location from a Verizon central office less than two miles away, Verizon officials said. Speeds of 800 Mbit/sec. were recorded to regional speed test servers 400 miles away.
i wish we had verizon internet in florida, there phone service is the best and i see there internet speeds are great too
We were one of the first cities for Fios internet when it rolled out, been with them for a while. No problems. We've got 35/35, but I can't imagine what the monthly bill for 1 Gbps would be, other than insane.
Actually, Mellon, that's comparable to where we are. Might even be a tad bit less, since our currencies aren't far apart. FiOS is $90 for 35/35, $140 for 50/50. You can get a better deal if you bundle TV, phone and internet, which is what we do. But you are right - it ain't cheap. Once they set up 1 Gbps, I bet they'll attach a fiber optic vacuum cleaner into your bank.
And the CRTC just lets them walk all over us by basically saying to them "How can we help you gouge your customers even more?"
EDIT: Btw, Colonel Travis, what you get with FiOS is real speeds. You pay for 35/35, and I'll bet you get 35 MBps. I pay for 15, and get 5, and I'm told that 15 is "the max, under ideal conditions." And my $70/month is in a bundle.
You think you have it bad? I pay $70/month (actually my company pays it) for less than 1Mbs. My speed is more typically 600-700Kbs. If I use over 20G in a month they send me emails admonishing me to keep my data usage below 20G.
I'd kill to have a decent connection with a speed greater than 1Mbs!!
