As I said earlier, Intel does bundle instruction sets into the processor that allows certain programs/games/etc. to run smoother. Some people opt for those certain programs/games if they know they'll perform better.

Although I don't think they would make it so that ONLY McAfee would run on the system (that would launch a lot of lawsuits), the included instruction set for that AV alone could sway people to opt for McAfee if they knew it would run faster and consume less memory.

They obviously see something worth grabbing. Maybe they always wanted to get into the AV business and with the list of epic fails from McAfee lately, hell, they might be getting a good buy for all we know.

In the future, you may not have to buy antivirus software for your laptops and mobile devices if Intel is able to live up to the promise of integrating technology from acquisition target McAfee, experts said on Thursday.
In announcing its plans to acquire security company McAfee for $7.68 billion, Intel executives said they see security as being as critical to computing as performance and connectivity and that they plan to combine security with its hardware and expand further into the mobile market.
