    but this is IE 8
    but you are correct norm..

this critical bug was found in every IE *supported*
meaning all the way back to IE 5 (5.01 i would not be surprised to believe that 4 also has this vulnerability but its not supported hence the emphasis supported...)
as the update says this also applies to

Internet Explorer 5.01 with Service Pack 4 on all supported versions of Windows 2000
this is incredible and the way MS handled this problem is superb...
it came out with a out of cycle patch instead of waiting till patch tues.

My point is that the out of cycle patch still leaves you vulnerable!

    yes norm you are right...
thats why most people (in this forum) are/should not use IE..
Firefox has also its bugs but unlike IE it sends them when they are ready, and tested....
the patch will mean that you have to restart your computer...
which means some enterprises will not get this patch until the mega patch tues...

this means most enterprises will be vulnerable to this attack....
(meaning that as of know they should be protected just from this vulnerability ....)

i know this browser is vulnerable i know....
this is why i use FF (sometimes use the nightly builds when im bored....lol)
usually i use IE when i reinstall a system and have no way to access it locally...
