Window 7 Pre-BETA Warning
I have seen this before but in view of the problems with IE at the moment, it is worth re-iterating. I am not sure how accurate the report is, but the claim is that the patch for the latest critical bug in Internet Explorer is not available to W7 pre-beta users? The same claim was also made in a post I saw from Ed Bott, although I've lost that link(??)
"If you have a copy of Windows 7, downloaded from a torrent, it is not the latest build. When Microsoft released the patch for the major security vulnerability of Internet Explorer 8, it was only for the latest Windows 7 build. The current torrent Windows 7 Internet Explorer cannot be updated. If you visit one of the thousands of websites that are affected by the security hole, you will get infected. The only solution is to drop your Windows 7 or use a different browser." http://webvisiononline.com/blog/inde...-users-beware/ Norm |

Hi All,
If I might just clarify ... The official builds released (6801) are OK and WU patches fine on auto It's the unofficial ![]() ![]() |

"Drop Windows 7, or use a different browser"
Wow that's a hard one... There are far better browsers than IE so I think we know the answer to that. |

Just to clarify it again: the patch is available to those using build number 6801; it installed in mine through Windows Update.
