Thanks for the post. I searched ms security before I installed it. I read they were serious and hired a few anti virus experts to help the project. I am happy with the ease of use but I wish it updated automatic. I was going to run nod32 if I did not like it. I am use to my anti virus updating between 1 to 4 times a day without me doing one click of the mouse.

In case anyone might be interested in trying the new Beta, you can find out what the new features are and download from this site:
Beta for Next Version of Microsoft Security Essentials Now Available
Or you can go directly to Microsoft Connect. In either case you need a Windows Live ID to log in and access the download.
I've been using the Beta since it was released and I'm very pleased. It has a smaller footprint on my Win 7 Pro laptop compared to the original MSE 1.0 which is running on my XP Pro machine. Scans are faster, too.
Thanks for the review. Very good.

Perhaps I am mistakin. I read on the update page of MSE stating it updates automatic. It just seems half the time I check for updates there is one for it. My machine is new so I check often I am still in the process of getting all my programs set up.

definitions come all the time in most security software because of the threats all over the world to machines having definition updates are a good sign for the security it shows the software is working and protecting you :)

Other folks have reported problems with the automatic updates. I just check everyday to make sure mine is updated.

good advice carl always best to check for updates in all software and drivers does no harm to manually update:)
