Quite interesting.
Looking forward to see how it turns out.
All AMD fans rejoice! I've been eagerly waiting on this chip to debut before i built a new system.. awesome! For those in need of info: It will be running on a new motherboard socket, the AM3+.

Yes, like all upgrades...new mobos required. I'll be interested to see if they really set records for performance or whether they just focus on the more cores must be better approach.
Looking at the articles seems to indicate that it's focus will be on servers and very high end desktops. That usually means $$$'s. The place that AMD usually excels is with low cost chips that deliver performance. Again, for me it comes down to performance per dollar. I'm neither a fanboy of Intel or AMD...it all comes down to the best performance....and for me it's been Intel for some time.
That wasn't my point. I'm saying that since the release of the Core 2 Duo, then the Core 2 Quad and now the core i3,i5,i7 line of chips that Intel has been performing solidly for a very comparable price to AMD...Therefore, I haven't used an AMD chip since my Athlon 64 X2 4400+. So, in my case, I would buy the Intel Core i5-750 for $195 everyday of the week over the AMD x6 1090T for $299.
So, the question for me becomes whether this "bulldozer" would actually be $400 or more like $800...and in either case, how does it stack up against Intel chips in the same price range. That's the chip I would go with.
I agree.
As it is, the 1090 6 core AMD is approx the same price point as a I7-930.
The 930 is simply a faster, better chip all round even though its specs look as if its slower, its not at all.
If AMD gets something good out of this, I would have no issue switching to a AMD platform.
This is good news. I am still working on my new build. So i would be interested in this chip.
Intel is always going to be the better route performance wise. It really comes down to the price to performance ratio for me. I have a Phenom II x3 720be and i dont know if Intel has a chip that can run with it overclocked for the same price. The higher end core2quads will run with the best of AMD's offerings right now for about the same price. I would like to see AMD stay competitive though.
