i looks loke you REALLY have got it all backwards....

as i posted above: "Ixquick has been awarded by EU, because EU does [B said:
NOT[/B] want search-engines to "spy" on european citizens."

at least it was so when i read about Ixquick and the award....

and i have not heard anything else, but now you really woke me, i´m going to doublecheck this, then i´ll get back to you.
Read the article the OP posted:

A draconian proposal to retain all Internet search traffic, known as "Written Declaration 29," was adopted by the European Parliament last week. Framed as a measure to crack down on paedophiles, the controversial Declaration calls on the EU to require that search engines store all search traffic for up to two years for possible analysis by authorities.

Tha sad thing is so few people know about it.

Only a few who are interested in computing/the net would know.

The public are totally unaware of what is being done behind their backs "for their own good".

There is a great line at the end of the movie Demolition Man .

    Beautifully delivered by Nigel Hawthorne:

"But it's what you wanted - it's for your own good"

what needs to be done is have a smart hacker enter all these oppressive Western governments files and destroy it.

The Australian Government want to do the same thing.
