The change Mike Kinsman wrote about earlier today is now applied:

You now only gets 5 keys to every products on Technet. No exceptions without the VA 1.0 keys 1/1 and the MAK keys 1/1.

which means Mike wrote that BEFORE the latest changes, (2 / 5 keys for ALL)...

maybe that have been changed too...
I can not see any reason why MS will change the numbers of activations per key. The only program at Microsoft that has one activations per key is MSDNAA, and if you wait 90 days between each activation, you can activate MSDNAA keys more then once also.

But if you want to be paranoid, and spread rumors, then keep it up. They had not changed the numbers yesterday. And if anybody wants, I can run a new test, activating all 9 computers with a new key. We can wait a day or two so we are sure all changes to Technet is finish.

Yes, the VA 1,0 key has always been one (don't how many activation you can use there) and the MAK keys still gives you 500 activations, but only ONE key.
Vista Enterprise (and Business) = 1 MAK key but only 100 activations.

Did just check with VAMT 2.0, and no changes in the numbers of activations for MAK keys on my Technet Pro account:

hackerman1: Sorry for that, but I is following 6-7 forums and all post rumors that they have read on another forum, and suddenly it's the truth. My point was that Mike Kinsman know what he is talking about, and I don't think his info from the 20.09.10 has changed.
As I told you the only program in Microsoft's that has one activation for one key is MSDNAA. And I do not think Technet will be so restrictive.

The BizSpark program reduced all their keys to 2 several months ago, but still you get 10 activations per key, and based on that fact and the info from Mike, I'm pretty sure it will always be 10 activations per key.
Remember on a normal Retail key, paid for in the store, you get at least 5 online activations, and more by the phone.

I can send Mike a e-mail asking him, maybe he want to give a official reply on that question. Sorry to see that I got a warning for this..I have never got a warning on any forum I have been on, ever. So maybe sevenforums.com is not the place for me and my info, and I have many contacts, and I know much about Windows activations, Technet/MSDN/MSDNAA/BizSpark etc.

As much as I am and was bothered by this change in policy (and how it was done) I'm trying to keep it in perspective and wait to see if I actually need more activations than are currently available...and whether they will truly deny me more if I request.

That said, I find myself being very hesitant to install a particular combination of software packages, so I can switch them out and try a better configuration, because I'll run out sooooo much more quickly, doing that multiple times on multiple machines.

I'd rather not have to worry about this, since I *used* to have five times as many activations available to me.

Funky lil pickle this is.

If you can test your scenarios within 30-120 days, you don't need to activate the programs.

If not, then quite a pickle indeed.
