do not download and install this. i found out the hard way that microsoft added their smartscreen in it. it is on by default and no way to turn it off that i can find.
To turn off SmartScreen Filter, follow these steps:

Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer. (or in an open IE 9 browser)

Click the Safety button, point to SmartScreen Filter, and then click Turn Off SmartScreen Filter.

In the Microsoft SmartScreen Filter dialog box, click OK.

doesn't work for messenger. when i first run ie8 and i am prompted for smartscreen i disable it right there. after installing live essentials 2011 and running messenger smartscreen was enabled in messenger. first thing i did was go to control panel, internet options and make sure live did not re-enable smartscreen, and it had not. i even went as far as to launch ie8 after that and re-check there. the setting is hidden within live messenger.

oh i don't know maybe because i do not like being directed to a live site where i have to click continue to get to he site i clicked on. what sites i'm looking at are none of microsofts business. can we say invasion of privacy boys and girls. i cannot even believe you would ask that question.

now that i'm back on the previous version i'll wait for them to push the new version through messenger itself. then it should keep my settings.

    Hello s31,

You can right click on the email message, click on Junk Email, then select either block option below.

    s31,

Ah, ok. Yeah, it seems that the only option is to the "Delete contact" in Messenger now. That's one way of blocking them I suppose.
