Thanks for this, I was wondering when the beta would end... Now what the hell am I supposed to use?
I am sick and tired of Open Office...
Just got this email today ....
In about 30 days, your Microsoft Office 2010 Beta will end. The applications you've been using, including Word 2010, Excel 2010, Outlook 2010 and PowerPoint 2010, will become read-only viewers and the features you've been using will no longer work. Before this happens, we recommend you move up to the finished version of Office 2010 today.

@Gornot...Well if you are sick of OO, don't worry...OO has recently changed to Libreoffice!! Article on it here:-
OpenOffice forks away from Oracle, now called LibreOffice - TechSpot News.
Hi there
You can get Student & Teacher editions very cheaply although there's no email cloent (Outlook) in this version.
My advice would probably be to go for a "Use at Home" type of deal if your company has such an arrangement with Microsoft or get a heavily discounted FULL version of Office 2007.
Office 2010 while has a little more eye candy doesn't bring a whole lot more to the table IMO.
Of course if you are a technet sucriber you can download full office 2010 -- although I'd still go for Office 2007 Enterprise since it has Multiple activatiuons allowed.

@jimbo..IMHO 2010 runs up quicker..but that only matters isf you are running for the bus I guess!! LOl
Hi there
I was just suggesting ways of how people could save a "few shekels" without losing too much functionality.
The biggest drawback IMO with the student and teacher editions is that they don't include the email client.
I HATE Windows live as do many others so the lack of an email client makes for me personally the student and teacher edition a no no.
I don't need MS ACCESS (it's actually a HORRIBLE database system). MySQL (Free) or several others are MUCH MUCH better so the lack of ACCESS in the cheaper Office editions isn't for me an issue either.
It's a shame that W7 didn't include Outlook Express -- perfectly fine for normal "Home" type users.
Cheers

When the trial period of 30 days is about to expire, just run command prompt with elevated permissions and then go to the following folder:
C:/Program Files/Common Files/Microsoft /Shared/Office/Software/Protection Platform
Run OSPPREARM.EXE from the above folder and it will extend the trial of Microsoft Office 2010 by 30 days. You can use this rearm technique 5 times in total making the total days to run the trial to almost 6 months.

During those 6 months you could save up some money to buy the retail version..as well.. (it will come to an end eventually )
Like Jimbo45 said if you are a student then getting the 2010 version is cheap or cheaper.. but and even the older 2007 version would work as well as there are not many new features in the 2010 version..
