Microsoft to release Silverlight 3 on 10th July

    Posted: 01 Jun 2009
Microsoft has confirmed that Silverlight 3 and Expression Studio 3 designer tools will be available on 10th July

Silverlight 3 introduces more than 50 new features, including 3D support, GPU acceleration, H.264 video support and out-of-the-browser capabilities to Silverlight.. The out-of-browser support will enable developers to build applications that work like Adobe's AIR plugin. Dramatic video performance and quality improvements are also expected.

Silverlight 3 was not expected until later this year but yesterday company officials began sending out press invites for the launch.

Cheers for the info Swarfega. :)

Developers can go here and start learning how to use the new features now. There isn't any 'End-User Runtimes' though until the date Swarfega mentioned in the first post.

This is a developer beta release only! This means there is no “go-live” licensing available and the end-user runtime of Silverlight 3 is not available. The tools below are intended for software developers only.
