From my POV Apple should not have the right to make the claims in the EULA regarding OSX and having it only on Apple products. They did not make over 50% of the OS as the base code is FreeBSD. I don't see a single difference between OSX and Redhat Distributions of Linux for which you're paying mostly for paid tech support.

The end user should be allowed to install and use OSX on a non-Apple machine understanding that Apple bears no responsibility nor obligation to support its deployment other than on their own machines.

MS has stated in several memos that they want to follow Apple's lead with Windows 8. Apple is already there and they have the cool factor. As much as I root for MS and their products, they are just way to slow arrive on the market and this is what is killing them. MS has been two steps behind with search, tablet and mobile. If they stay two steps behind they will drift away.

That doesn't sound right. Talking strictly about OS vs OS, Apple's behind the curve with OS X 10.6.x compared to Windows 7. All versions of OS X pales in sales compared to any Windows versions NT 5.0 (Win2K) and above. You do understand that OS X Lion seeks to bring the multi-touch interface to their desktop environment whereas Windows 7 has already accomplished that. In terms of network security, Windows 7 has been proven to be as solid and more modern than OS X when configured properly. In terms of OS sales, MS could stop selling Windows 7 and OS X won't catch up even if given a few years without any competition. Not sure where you're trying to go with your statement.

Being cool is all about being the underdog and/or a rebel. It's cool to be on Linux than Windows, it's cool to use Chrome over IE, it's cool to own a Mac over a PC. That doesn't necessarily make it better. Apple does not have a solid footprint in the enterprise corporate markets with their OS X Server products which are laughable compared to even the basic Server products offered by MS.

Microsoft is by no means behind Apple with their OS. Apple chose to merge an open source FreeBSD code with a Mach Kernel calling it XNU, which makes it easier for Apple to develop products. Like I said earlier, over 50% of OS X isn't the result of Apple's hard work, they took a finished product and added to it. Apple's not responsible for the security FreeBSD offers within their OS, they're responsible for Safari, iTunes, iChat, iWorks, Time Machine... all the apps that run within it and anyone who's familiar with them knows ALL of what I just mentioned have major security holes and issues which has nothing to do with the FreeBSD code itself.

Microsoft's OS is a genuine product, they didn't take an open source code and simply added things to it and claimed the end result as their own. If Apple seeks to really earn all the respect from those who really knows what's going on, they need to produce a genuine product of their own from the ground up.

Truth is that both OSX and Windows are two decades old and outdated interfaces and concepts. File, Edit, View and drop down menus were cool in late 80s/early 90s. Today is 2011, tomorrow will be 2021 and we will not see any improvement I am 95% sure unless mobile industry gets dominant and makes them think a little bit more.

An Example: I see that a lot of excitement is generated by Lions introduction of window resize option from any corner. Really? That should have been there from the beginning, thats not and improvement. If you are talking about window designs real concern is what about both Win and OSX having unnecessary space as a window frame to store min/max/close buttons, it adds thickness and makes it look bloated while taking away from your screen estate. They should start fixing that thing first.

In order to make big changes to user experience they will have to move onto something new and forget about NT kernel or UNIX, they are inefficient for today needs and i see them same way as combustion engines in automobiles. Combustion engine is really complicated and inefficient compared to electric one right? Well so are our Windows and OSX.

We are arguing which one is better while they are banking for developing something almost 30 years ago and not improving it as fast as they need to.

Windows 8 new taskbar screenshots leaked

Today the guys at MDL forums has leaked another set of screenshots showing the taskbar in Windows 8. One change noticed in this screenshot is that Microsoft has given weightage to the language bar in Windows.Another noticeable change is that the text in the Language bar has been centered. The second screenshot also shows the new Windows classic theme in the server edition.
The build of these screenshots is not known, though going by the date of the screenshots, they may probably belong to Milestone 3.

No, actually,, well,, the internal workings maybe, but the other side of that coin, which is usability? Absolutely not.
Electric Battery Powered engines are no where near ready to replace anything other than maybe a lawn mower.

They are not anywhere near cheaper, quite expensive to purchase outright, as well as maintain and operate.
It costs a fortune to retro fit a garage to accommodate an electric powered vehicle.

They are unreliable, especially in a snow storm that could leave you stranded for days.

If we are talking about Blenders, ok. but beyond that? No Way.

As for Windows/Mac, they work, they are fine.
Yes, it could be argued that there could be some innovative changes that could be implemented.
But over all,, the GUI works just fine.

If you are talking about how bad it might be on a 4 inch screen, well,,,,,,,, that's something different entirely.
And really Apples and Oranges by comparison.

Cell side versus PC side, are 2 completely different things, and trying to merge the 2 could be a bad thing for both.
Not everything needs to be or is a good thing to be touch based.

as well as, I am against the cloud.

Cloud OS is fail. Some things are better left on the local machine.

As far as the leaked taskbar pics, I call fake.

Regardless of whether or not they're faked, they really don't look that impressive.
