The ISO contains all three offline installers (x86, x86_64, IA64).

The offline installers (the .exe's that are not Signup Tools) are just the installers for whatever architecture you are running on. Choose the one that matches your installed version of Windows 7.

The signup tools just allow you to download the Service Pack 1 update through Windows Update.
The installer automatically detects the platform it seems. When simply double clicking on the setup.exe file the installer takes a few while detecting the flavor of 7(32 or 64) you are running before seeing the initial screen.

The several screens attached here are watching as the installation is taking place once the iso image was burned to a blank and started up manually.

Typically you shouldn't run into any problems with the problems you usually run when seeing a service pack go on in most cases. Even with a final version you never can rule anything out completely while you can still revert the system back to where it was before the SP went on if needed.

For anyone running into problems seeing this release go on first be sure to install the WUSignUpTool as well as the readiness tool as well. The WUSignUptool.exe is seen right under the iso, 64bit, and 32bit download options on the actual download page. That's the License part of the prerelease.

For those running the free version of ThreatFire you'll want to see that removed until the SP is on since there's a hidden process that remains active at times with nothing found for that in the system configuration>services and startup tabs or in the processes tab for the taskmanager.

Before clicking on the apply button for disabling other protections make sure you exit those first and then click on the apply to prevent the items from automatically rechecking themselves off again. Those are a few more tips besides the warning seen on the download page about av and other protections preventing a complete install.

Interesting occurrence this evening. I noticed an update for KB976902, the "black hole" update as there is no information on MS about it. I went ahead and installed it anyway after creating a restore point manually. Afterward, I had the KB976932 Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Release Candidate Wave 0 for x64-based Systems show up in available updates.

I had previously installed the initial SP1 Beta but uninstalled it a while ago. I went ahead and installed the RC Wave 0 SP1. So far, all is good. There was no need to download an installer in my case as Windows Update did it all.

It appears that update KB976902's primary purpose is to be getting our computers ready for SP1. It was issued today with a few other updates including Media Center, Drive Corruption with drives >2TB and finally a compatibility update.
