Personally I feel Safer with Norton.
I like the extra little features it has. Identity Safe, Anti-Spam mail etc.

Also some of the little things. For example, being able to look up a website for more info if its safe or not from the desktop, without actually visiting is nice.

Its on 3 PCs and everone is clean as can be still in over a year so thats good enough for me.

I do however agree, its mostly your browsing habits, as well as personal preference.

Yeah, that's true. As I said, what the best approach would be, I really don't know. There is always exception no matter how hard will one try to protect sensitive data, I just hope I'll not be one of them.
    cheers

Browsing habbit's are the reason why we have AV some people like to explore and do things that simple people are not into pretty much

But on the brightside most skilled pc users most likely will be virus free if there not in search of illegal or copyrighted material

Imaging is just fine....however if you get your box infected and then your identity is stolen or compromised....it doesn't do a lick of good if you can restore your previous image onto your computer.

Although having one's identity stolen is a tragedy having a clean image to restore your computer with in a few minutes can save the endless hours of having to restore Windows to its former working state from scratch manually which would certainly be an asset as someone tries to deal with a recent identity theft.

I would agree. I think the sites such as these are the main source of spreading these things.

A while back I was looking for a program on Tom's Hardware which I had visited many times before without incident and Wham! I got hit with a drive by download which turned out to be a Trojan Downloader. I overwrote Sandboxie's virtual space in which the browser was operating in and it was so long Malware.

Its very difficult to tell any more where Malware has been placed in fact I've heard that Malware writers are now going coming out of the dark corners of the internet and going mainstream by embedding the Malware they've created in banners that they pay to have displayed on reputable sites.

Sure..you can get malware from anywhere....but the liklihood is far less than it is with sites that cater to pirated software and copyrighted materials.

The Malware writers have figured out that the more legitimate and trusted the site they place their Malware infected banners on the more unsuspecting people's computers they can infect. I was reading the other day that legitimate sites were being used as a proxy to infect the computers of those who visit their web site even though it is Malware Free which is all the more reason to use Sandboxie.
