well, I haven't had any real problems with vista and most of the things i dislike about it are actually rather simple, like not being able to shut off the UAC without getting a billion security warning or something like that, but i still enjoy Windows Vista, i don't shun it like some people do, even though my laptop has Windows 7, i just enjoy both operating systems, whatever makes the PC work, I mean even if it came with Ubuntu 10.10 i'd still use it........which i really want to try by the way, i read reviews and it just looks so nice. and believe it or not my old C&T teacher called Vista "This decades Millenium Edition" although he was referring to vista when it first came out and had so many problems people actually CHOSE XP over it.

Hardly any of its parts are standard these days, ever since i got it I've tweaked and tuned it into something that while its not as powerful as other computers it will certainly catch your attention and is rather memorable, hopefully not for the wrong reasons.
Vista was great until I plugged in my crappy printer... (even plugged stupid thing in to network, not USB) Vista must die, unfortunately it was a great stepping to stone to the WONDERFUL Windows 7. (crappy printer still has problems in W7 x64)

Same here. What I think is funny is people who insist that Vista sucks to the nth degree without realizing how close Windows 6.1 is to its origin in Windows 6.0. I've had my Win 7 desktop for 5 months now and its just great. I got my laptop about a year after Vista was first released and by that time the RTM version I had was so improved that I never has any trouble with it and it kind of makes me laugh when people slam Vista because it was continually improved upon and is after all that development the source of Win 7 which some people cleverly refer to as Vista SP3.
I love Vista, until it stopped working for some reason and had to re-install OS. Lost the Vista DVD and retails no longer sell Vista.
Vista is a Good OS, I don't see why people says it sucks.
I ask people this question:
Why Does Windows Vista Sucks?
This is the answer I always get:
Because it just sucks!
For god sakes, can you describe how it sucks? I would like feedback from Vista Haters.
Not having used Vista, I can't answer your question, but if you Google the phrase "Why does Vista suck", you will get 1,980,000 returns to browse.
And I'm willing to bet about 1,979,500 of those reasons are asinine responses from people that either never used it or tried it on low-end hardware. Virtually all of the issues people complain about Vista to this day with were ironed out by SP1, if not by SP2.
This post was made on my Vista Business x64 SP2 install.
vista was rubbish people absolute rubbish it was a beta for 7 that's about it
It was only rubbish for people trying to install it on low end XP hardware
Well said I think people who purchase the OS with out fully reading the requirments are full of Rubbish
You can't make something work if you don't take the time to understand how it works it is like putting a 1970 corvette engine in a 2010 silverado truck just doesn't work that way
alot of people try to upgrade with out a slight clue that theire hardware is absolute useless with the new OS
Good points, vista gets blamed for a lot of things Vista didn't do.
Thanks cbg, you have proved a point several members have been making here.
Did you hear that it wasn't any good?
You just don't get it ...do you ....?
The point is not about people "Upgraded their OS" ..is the about people like me ..who bought new pcs with Vista OS on it ..and with all the greatness+promises from MS ..
I'm not a stupid guy ....i tweaked it every which way ...still could not make it work smoothly ...
Without saying that whole lot of people out there who don't know much about computer ..of course, they would get angry and felt that MS sold them the UNFINISHED product ..just for the name of greed..... do you understand now ....?
You ...by the way ...one of the rare breed ...who is so easily to accept the "Broken product"
with your "hard earned money" ...
The way i see it you are just an arrogant ,snob geek ...BTW being a geek does not give you the right to look down on people .
Open your eyes .

Yes, I do get where you're coming from and I'm truly sorry that you could not get your Vista computer to run smoothly, but as you must know not all computers running the same OS run exactly the same and my Vista laptop worked well from the start and with some tweaking I got it to boot up twice as fast, run 40% faster with less than 1/2 the RAM consumption (435 MB) which was originally about 1GB.
One of the things that I miss about Win 7 is that virtually all the tweaking has been already been done. I worked hard to reduce my Vista laptop's boot time from 90 to 45 seconds and yet my Win 7 computer boots up in 20 seconds! The first time I saw that I thought 'Win 7 is Vista all grown up and perfected!'
My son is building his first machine from scratch. He is going to put Windows 7 (64 bit) on it.
I have an unopened/unactivated Windows Vista Ultimate that I won a few years ago. I am wondering if he can just by a Windows 7 (64) upgrade and upgrade from this copy of Vista w/o actually...
In reference to Windows 7's "Personalize your PC" website is live - Vista Forums and Windows 7 beta: Personalize your PC, I was wondering if anyone knows of perhaps a hidden feature or command-line utility in Windows 7 that I could use to "pre-package" my themes that can be created in Windows 7...
