a few years back when they started with the Intel Dual Core processors in their iMacs, I bought one for an ex gf, and it cost about $2400.00 US. At the same time I built a PC nearly triple the power for about $800.00 US. Nuff said.
Apple takes a few shots at Windows during WWDC09 - Ars Technica
During this year's WWDC, Apple took the time to talk up Snow Leopard, the successor to Mac OS X, but also made sure to talk about Windows. Apple's Bertrand Serlet made a point to say that the company loves and is proud of Leopard, so to show that the next version built upon the previous one, the company called the operating system Snow Leopard. Serlet called Windows 7 "just another version" of Windows Vista, noting that the user still has to deal with DLLs, the registry, disk defragmenter, and so on. He emphasized that Microsoft has dug quite a big hole with Vista and is trying to get out of it with Windows 7, at which point the screen showed the rather harsh quote: "Vista has failed to catch on with mainstream computer users, while businesses have shunned it outright." On top of that, he said that Windows 7 has "even more complexity" since it is "the same old tech as Vista" and is "just another version of Vista."
Apple frequently badmouths Windows at its events, since in terms of market share, Mac OS X is in a very distant second. Actions speak louder than words though; the real attack from Apple comes in the form of the $29 price tag to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Even according to a leaked Best Buy memo from last week (that includes possible upgrade prices to Windows 7), Microsoft won't be matching such a low price. Whether the upgrade to Snow Leopard is comparable to the upgrade to Windows 7 is of course very important, but when it comes to marketing and fanboy flame wars, it's just irrelevant. Money talks, and right now it isn't looking very good for Microsoft (though I believe Windows 7 will do very well regardless of price). Redmond is expected to announce Windows 7 pricing later this month.
What is it with Apple and bashing Windows? They do it in their commercials, they do it in their articles, but do you ever see M$ bashing apple? Nope! M$ talks about what is good with their OS, what was improved, what needs work, etc. I know nothing about Snow Leopard save that Apple thinks its better than Seven and it is much cheaper (to upgrade). And obviously, whoever wrote that has not USED windows Seven. Which is something you need to do before writing a comparison on two competing products!

It looks pretty and is available in white. Girls (and artsy types) love it.
I own a Mac but I use windows 7 as its primary OS :)
Yes, a half hour ago in fact I saw a M$ commercial bashing Apple. Made them look to be far more expensive than they actually are and as if you have to be filthy rich to afford an Apple, which really isn't the case any more.
What makes you think that they haven't used Windows 7? I'm typing this forum post from Windows t Build 7229, I bet ya people that work for Macintosh have downloaded the leaked Windows builds or the beta/RC to be able to make a valid comparison.Lordbob75 said:
PS: I'm not an Apple fanboy, I primarily work with Linux. I consider Vista to have been a piece of crap, I had repeated issues with it, most annoyingly a Windows Update that corrupted my USB drivers and made me unable to use my mouse. I am quite fond of Windows 7 so far though and have no severe problems when using it.
i tried the mac mini, but i was getting really slow wireless connection since the placement of the aircard was flawed to start with and was getting about 20% signal strength and internet speed of ~2.0mb while my internet connection is ~20mb
so i returned that sucker asap and built a much better, faster PC for about the same price and not having any issues at all
Was so hilarious that WWDC they took maybe 6 shots at windows... Its true all the OS stayed the same no big jumps in technology but Windows 7 is getting there
Whenever someone says something like 'So and so's said he could do it for $100 less', my response is always 'He knows best what his work is worth.'the real attack from Apple comes in the form of the $29 price tag
I think Apple knows best what their work is worth.
Besides they have to make it cheap. If they don't they'll lose the little bit of market share they gained when Vista came out.

This is essentially what the new Microsoft commercials are emphasizing (price). I worked as an Apple Specialist for 3 years, I don't think Microsoft or PC's have anything to be 'overly' concerned about, particularily when it comes to price point.
Macs are sexy and relatively low maintenance, as far as the OS, but they have their share of issues (hardware wise they are a pain). They have a great resell value, but this does not offset the amount you'd be investing in buying a MacBook Pro or Mac Pro.
