Yes, a half hour ago in fact I saw a M$ commercial bashing Apple. Made them look to be far more expensive than they actually are and as if you have to be filthy rich to afford an Apple, which really isn't the case any more.

What makes you think that they haven't used Windows 7? I'm typing this forum post from Windows t Build 7229, I bet ya people that work for Macintosh have downloaded the leaked Windows builds or the beta/RC to be able to make a valid comparison.

PS: I'm not an Apple fanboy, I primarily work with Linux. I consider Vista to have been a piece of crap, I had repeated issues with it, most annoyingly a Windows Update that corrupted my USB drivers and made me unable to use my mouse. I am quite fond of Windows 7 so far though and have no severe problems when using it.
Hmmm... I still haven't seen a M$ commercial bashing them, but I will take your word for it.

My point was that there was a good chance that the person who wrote that article has not used Seven, which was why they were calling it "Just another Vista", which it obviously isn't to anyone who has used it.

Without getting into the whole windows is better or OS is better I can tell you why Apple has been bashing Microsoft and it is working!

Without a doubt we can all agree that vista's launch was horrible, horrible PR horrible compatibility, and horrible performance I spent about 300.00 on it and I was and am still highly pissed about that one.

Apple released OS-X 10 and it was a Major improvement over older OS's added alot of consumer bells and whistles.

Apple decided to focus on the problems vista and windows has been having for years and since then they are the fastest growing computer OS and hardware sales.

I myself personally switched to OS-X as a techie challenge but I found an OS I loved.

Ive not had to reformat my machine in 2 years in windows I had to every 6 months (your milage may very) due to spyware or virus problems.

Ok so I install spyware and antivirus sopftware on the PC and steal away resources and speed from the PC just to make it work virus free. OS-X didnt have this problem

If a virus somehow DOES infect a PC you simply delete the app and reinstall it. No other application are affected (Windows the registry is the biggest problem) it touches everything!

Apple decided to target these consumer fears or issues and its been a boom to them.

I hate that apple chrages a premium for the Hardware though they make nice stuff (not dell or Gateway quality mind you)

I have family pictures, movies, and data that I keep on the MAC because I just do not trust them on the PC. However I miss gaming and thats where the PC excels.

So I have both now and I love what windows 7 is showing though there are negatives as well. I will be getting 7 since it's what Vista should have been.

Im praying that soon I can hackintosh my PC and dual boot windows 7 and SNow Leopard on this thing!

Apple and Microsoft will always be going at it. I love how Apple brings up how Windows 7 is basically the same as Vista, when Snow Leopard is also basically the same as leopard (aside from being partly x64 and some different features).

    To the above poster, <3 hackintosh's =P

I to am a Mac user also but my love for PC is greater. I went out and got me a old Ibook when I found out how bad VISTA was and I must say the older mac's are great, my Ibook 600Mhz processor PPC was as fast as my 1.7Ghz laptop and now that Apple is using Intel I am going to make me a Hackintosh to have the best of both worlds. But I can't wait for Windows7 to come out because it has made a big improvement over VISTA.

My favorite part was when they ranked on windows for stealing ideas, minutes later they show the new expose feature that looks very much like the taskbar thumbnails on W7.

I think the thought process was supposed to be: Vista=bad, Leopard=good, 7=more Vista=more bad, and Snow Leopard=more Leopard=more good.

I think the point Apple was trying to make is that Microsoft was continuing on a rocky path while they were expanding their already excellent product. It's a exaggeration, but, hey, marketing right? Both sides do their share of these kind of things.

I saw this before and all I can say is that I have lost all respect for Apple. Microsoft never disses Apple the way Apple disses Microsoft. Also, that post about Microsoft saying Macs are overpriced...was that the ad that said if someone could find a PC for less than $1400, Microsoft would pay for it? I saw that and actually, I don't think Microsoft dissed Apple directly. Instead, it was some person they asked randomly.

Plus, the stuff that Apple says usually is extremely overexaggerated or sometimes just not true. I've used Vista and never had a problem with it (actually, I loved it) and I know others who have no problem with it as well. Also, the ads are very hypocritical because some of the things that Apple criticizes about Microsoft are actually done by Apple as well (for example, Microsoft is criticized for using stuff from Apple while Apple has actually used some ideas from Microsoft as well).

I generally don't like the Apple ads, but Microsoft's relative silence about Apple in their ads isn't because Microsoft is clean and decent. Market leaders absolutely never strive to draw comparisons between them and a small player unless they feel threatened. It's Marketing 101. The Laptop Hunters ad campaign somewhat mentions Apple, but the implication that they are much more expensive for identical hardware is simply false. Apple hardware is reasonably priced for the most part, and the comparisons are always with inferior pc models claimed as equivalents.

I'm sure that if Apple continues to grow, Microsoft will be just as brutal and piercing. It's just how competition works.

I just compared the MacBook Pro 15" to a Dell Studio 15". I could find almost no Hardware specs on Apple's website, but compared what I could. Overall, the Dell is about $1000 for about the same Hardware.
