Would this be as a redist download, or through WSUS?

There have been a boatload of updates so far this week.

Will SP1 integrate these I wonder.

Also I hope we'll have the opportunity to create a slipstream disk like we had with XP.

You already can by using WAIK (Windows Automated Installation Kit). Not only updates but pretty much any application, more or less.

If the SP was already signed off two weeks ago, none of the updates from this week should be in it.

I installed Windows 7 and windows server 2008 R2 SP1 RC pack, however that SP Pack is no new features instead of Windows Server 2008 R2. both Dynamic memory and Remote FX are being New features in SVR R2 SP1, although, windows 7 is notthing. It just updated to any windows security update, windows update and suffix update that's it. so, I am expect to SP2 that New features.

If Windows 8 hits when it is supposed to, there may not be an SP2

Ok, we might see an SP2, Win7 mainstream support ends 2015

Why is that? SP's are not an obligation, that I know of.
