I just installed it so far so good
Hey guys can anyone look at pages 8 and 9 to see if you can identify what the problem is with MSE when I try to install it. Thanks
I looked.
Stopping, shutting down - is not the same as uninstalling, as most AV solutions leave drivers running in your services and that alone CAN cause a conflict. MSE specifically warns you against having other AV solutions.
My experience is that each AV solution should be UNINSTALLED.
Norton recommends using the Norton Remover on their website - not the program uninstaller. And what they don't say is that you should run it twice with a restart after each "uninstall".
So you need to uninstall ALL your AV programs. If you are concerned then turn of your modem/router or pull out your LAN while you do this.
As to running more than one AV solution. If you must its probably possible. Some will/may conflict. I can say with confidence that MSE and Eset-Nod will run together OK. Is it necessary - almost certainly not. Most modern AV solutions do a pretty good, tho not perfect job. Beyond that I say, don't worry, be happy. There is no guarantee that two solutions working in conflict at the same time will do any better at finding a rare virus than one.
After you have MSE running its your choice if you want to add another. I recommend against Norton (I had problems with their Heuristic drivers).

Yes, the leak prompted Microsoft to slightly speed things up. That's what this thread is about: Microsoft announces free antivirus, limited public beta
