Windows 8 New UI (Codenamed Mosh) and App Model (Codenamed Jupiter)

While the first taste of Windows 8 might be just around the corner as CES 2011 kicks off later today, some fresh tidbits related to Windows 7’s successor have made their way to the public.

Windows 8 will reportedly feature a new graphical user interface codenamed Mosh and a new application model codenamed Jupiter.

I read Paul Thurrot's column earlier today, he said the same although he mentions it several times that he has not been able to confirm it. Interesting to see what Ballmer says tonight.

Anyway, I believe after CES we know quite a bit more.

That's because he's the only one with this info. Everyone else is just reporting what he said on their respective news site

Posted this in the VIP forum already, but I thought I would add it here too. They showed off an early version of Win8 today...build number 6.2.7867. No new UI changes yet, just as early versions of W7 looked just like Vista. Can't wait for the leaks to start.

Any more info besides they showed it off? What did they show off and are there any pics?

This is an old build that was shown off, Build 6.2.7867 and the desktop watermark reads:

    Microsoft Pre-Release Windows Operating System
For testing purposes only. Build 7867

I watched Ballmer's Keynote speech and MS showed Windows "next version" running on a group of SOC and ARM PC's. They stated the OS was the "next" version but the GUI was Windows 7 so nothing to see. Their main point was that the "next" Windows will be able to run on all types of hardware.

All types of hardware? That sounds a bit... unrealistic. Or is it just me?

In any case, thanks for the read, Jan :)
