I looked at the information for SP1 RC and there were over 600 updates. Most of those were Hot Fixes which most people won't have on their system unless they were having a problem and downloaded them.

Download details: Documentation for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 Release Candidate (KB976932)

You have to be validated to download the file. Takes just a minuet to get the validated code.

    Thanks, Jim! :)

My list is, apparently, specific to my system, of course. Still, it's more updates than ever have shown up in the installed update list prior but that might be attributable to having had the Beta and RC SP1 builds installed prior to installing the SP1 RTM(?) build.

625 updates included in SP1 RC according to the Excel file download referenced in Phone Man's post above.

It appears the RTM(?) might have even more:
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 includes all previously released updates for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Many of these updates are available to the public on the Microsoft Download Center and Windows Update, while others are only available to specific customers or partners. It is standard practice to include all of these updates in a Service Pack and as such they are included in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1.

This document contains a list of these updates with links to their descriptive webpage on http://support.microsoft.com. There are other updates in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 which have not been released as updates and therefore are not presented in this list.

Disclaimer: This is a preliminary document and may be changed substantially prior to final commercial release of the software described herein, as newer hotfixes and security updates will continue to be included in the Service Pack until closer to the release date.
There are 520 Hotfixes, 78 "Non Security GDR" (whatever that is) and 27 "Security" updates listed.

FWIW, the SP1 beta shows 473 updates included.

Are you sure? The rows go to 635 but the list starts at row 11. You might want to recount.

To remind folks thie service pack isn't just updates, it has some software improvements and additions too. What exactly I can't lay my hands on at the moment but I know I saw that somewhere.

From what I have read, ALL of the improvements and additions go to WS2K8 (I guess you could call security updates and hotfixes improvements).

Yep! Windows 7 service pack 1 is just a roll-up of all the updates and few hotfixes improvements from the retail time.

I can only understand the hurry and happiness of those installing the SP1 on windows 7!!!
