Did you take any precautions prior as was the norm with previous service packs for Vista, XP etc., such as disabling antivirus etc.?

    (I'm still downloading mine).

Made a restore point, did not disable AVG, popped DVD in drive & clicked install

Interesting. MS must have tweaked the installer to be less fussy than in previous versions. Regarding the restore point, someone earlier mentioned that it creates one in any case.

Yea the first thing it did when I ran the installer was create a restore point.

    I've downloaded Wave0. 638mb. Does this matter. Do I need Wave1?

so, anything new at all in there?

@john: apparently wave1 just adds more languages support. don't know for sure though.

i think i'll be boring and wait for official for this one, unless there's something super that i'm missing out on.

I've been needing a clean install for a while, it's been a year since I put on this install and some things just aren't working anymore. The only problem is, the version I downloaded when I try to install says that there are components missing on my computer necessary for the install, when I follow the link it gives, it takes me to a Microsoft knowledge article that says this error pops up if you've installed using vLite, which I didn't. So anyone know how to fix this issue? Did it happen with the betas as well?
